Smithsonian Running Horse Weathervane 952P These Smithsonian weathervanes are modeled after the original weathervanes found in the vault of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. The original weathervanes are thought to be from the 16th century era. Weathervanes are full-bodied copper figures with copp spacer balls, solid brass directionals and black powder coated steel rod. Available in two finishes. Choose from Blue Verde or Bright Polished copper finish. The Blue Verde patina is a hand applied finish that changes the high shine to a deep toned blue-green patina as shown in picture. The polished finish is a high shine copper luster. This copper luster is not treated with any polyurethane or lacquer top coat and will therefore weather over time to obtain a natural green/blue patina finish. If you wish to preserve the polished look, we offer a clear spray-on lacquer that preserves the polished appearance of our products.
