Carousel Horses - Hand Painted Merry Go Round Horse 

We have always been a big fan of large Carousel Horses. We can remember the thrill of riding a beautiful carousel with all it's music and lights. We all had fond memories holding on to that brass pole as the horse went up and down. These memories from our childhood sparked our desire to start a website devoted to everything merry go round.

We carry a beautiful line of reproduction hand painted carousel horses each signed by the artist. Available in over 9 different large and small sizes shown below. Each style is offered in many different colors that are each individually painted. No two painted animals are identical.

Flared nostrils and decorative trappings adorn these fine horses. They look just like they came from an antique merry go round found at the county fair. 
We offer designs made of molded resin and a plastic fiber glass mixtures as well as real hand carved creations.

Full Size Large Carousel Horses

Elegant Stander

These full-sized carousel beauties will delight any collector due to the detailed workmanship and painting. The art of actually carving a horse from wood is slowing going by the way side. Expert carvers would take years to carve and then finally create a carousel. The Elegant Stander was one of the last ones ever created by master carver M.C. Illions. The original horse, carved in 1927 is regarded as one of the finest examples ever carved, only three of the originals still exist and are valued in over $150,000. 

These items can also be purchased unfinished or unpainted so that you can enjoy the experience of creating your own.

This classic Merry Go Round stander called the Royal Stander appears to look like it belongs in a parade with it's prancing style and large mane.  Like the Elegant Stander it is full sized measuring 62 inches high and 62 inches wide. The Royal Stander has very decorative designs on one side which partially follows the detail that the original carvers intended. A small flying horse is painted in a group of flowers to finish the detail. 

Full Sized Jumper

Beautiful full sized Jumpers offered in eleven different colors and comes complete with finial, pole and wooden base.  All are hand painted by the artist and signed.  Painted detail and accents are displayed on the romance size and less on the plain side or inner side of horse. 

**New Custom Carved Wooden Horse**

Hand Carved from wood is this beautiful Black Indian Pony, a reproduction of the Great American Classic Carousel Carvers.  So many intricate carved details on both sides of this carving with an Indian theme in mind.

Glory Carousel Horse is one of our newer mid-sized Jumper horses.   Lamp kits and Music Box bases available at additional cost of $75.00.  Horses are made of HDPE (high density polyethylene)

Carousel Horse Rosie is a hand painted horse with detailed flower design on side of horse and painted with colorful blankets and saddle.  This current horse is shown in Citrus, however you may choose up to 11 different color patterns from drop down menu on order page.


 

Indian Pony

Military Ghost

Jumping and prancing the Broad Billed Jumper has a classic look that was commonly found in many antique merry go rounds in America. The Broad Billed Jumper we feature here is a scaled down version of the original carved in 1927 by The Philadelphia Toboggan Company. It features flowers carved into the blanket on the show or romance side. On this same side a hummingbird is painted hovering over daisies and vines.

 
Dixie

Charles Carmel carved the original jumper that the Treasure Carousel Horse was copied from. The Treasure is a scaled down replica of this famous antique. It features fringe, tassels, jewels and a long beautiful mane. This reproduction is one of the most ornate examples in our line.

Rocking Horses

Rocking horses always delight young children especially when they are riding a 
Rosie Carousel  Rocker. Our rockers are painted with the same careful detail adding that same "antique feel" to a room. This is a popular item to decorate a child's room or nursery.

Unfinished Carousel Horses

Paint your own beauty by purchasing an unfinished horse. These unpainted figures are available in all styles offering the serious and amateur craftsperson the chance to paint and personalize their pony. 

We ship to the customer with seams or without seams. You will need to sand down the seams to ensure a smooth finish, (if you choose the figure with seams), and then primer. Water based paints are best to use followed by a clear coat.

Figures come with finial, pole and base.
